New member! It doesn't look like you guys are particularly active, but on one of the older posts I saw that somebody posted some sexy sexy videos, and I'm very grateful, so I'm joining anyway. It's always good to know other Johnette devotees, in any case.

Is a click game with a difference. You build up your characted through experience. A bit of fun and something to kill the time when it's quiet at work.

If you are not interested that's cool. Just a suggestion. If you are feeling nice and aren't interested anyway, you could click the link anyway; that's all you'd have to do - you'd never hear anything else about it.

Or you can click the link; register and start interacting with the community. Have a look, see what you think.

It has vampires, which is always good.

12:21 am - video mania

X-posted from my own journal:

Many of you here on my flist may find yourself asking "Just who IS this Johnette person that Kryssi is always raving about??" And if you're special, you may've had the privilege of my sending you Concrete Blonde mp3's for you to get just a taste. But now that I have the technology, I have uploaded some of my favorite Concrete Blonde videos to Putfile for you to stream. Beware: Johnette will steal your heart if she hasn't already.

[Heal It Up] - This is by far Johnette at her hottest, as far as pre-breakup Concrete Blonde goes. Video is rather lame, but who freakin' cares?! LOOK AT HER.

[Walking In London] - The mood and visuals of this video are the epitome of Gothic. And yes, that is indeed Johnette writhing around down on the ground occasionally...covered only in body paint.

[Jonestown] - Holy hell, this video is creepy. (song lyrics = brilliant) There's something unsettling about the effects that go in on the chorus. You'll see. But mmm, Johnette in a slip! She's so hardcore. Anyone who compares her to Chrissie Hynde doesn't deserve to breathe.

[Bloodletting] - Ahhh Johnette playing dress-up, vampire-style.

[Dance Along the Edge] - I love the song. Love the video. Don't care what anyone says. Johnette twirling around in a shredded bridal gown = hot.

[Still In Hollywood] - Cutest. video. EVER. I love me some Mankey and Harry.

[Happy Birthday] - This one is just plain fun. Plus she reminds me of Janeane Garofalo in this for some reason. Not sure how I feel about the cat-tossing, though. =\

[Jenny I Read] - Live acoustic performance back on MTV's 120 Minutes. Just felt the need to include it. She's very, uh, expressive.

5:17 am - new.

cimmorene
greetings. New here so hey.

The last time I saw CB was on the Mexican Moon tour. While we were waiting in line, there was a DJ from one of the local radio stations handing out Dream 6 cd's.

Wellll.....12 years later and I am still kicking myself for not keeping better track of that thing!

Anyone know where I may be able to acquire some Dream 6?

New music from Johnette and cohorts: Catfish Scar.

http://www.myspace.com/catfishscar

Members include Johnette (vox) and Gabriel (drums) from Concrete Blonde and Will Crewdson (guitar) from Rachel Stamp.

Only one song to go on so far, but it's stripped-down, ethereal electro and not half bad.

10:18 am - The Ship Song

friedpineapple
Anyone know where I can download it? Or can someone send it to me (postal or email)? PLUHEZE!!

Concrete Blonde, Pearl Jam, and Nick Cave perform The Ship Song!!

I downloaded it via Napster about 5 years ago but only got the first minute or so. The crowding is cheering, Eddie is talking and starting the song out and then, kaput.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks for your time.

5:24 pm - Johnette's artwork for sale!

littleweirdgirl
Hey guys. You may have read on the CB official site (and anywhere else I've spammed about this) that Johnette participates in The Rawk Show. Their website appears to be down right now, but I've bought
stuff from them before and can guarantee that it's legit. Portions of their sales go to a charity.

Anyway, Johnette has two pieces left - I already bought one but I can't justify the expense right now
to buy all three. I'd hate to see her work go to someone who doesn't appreciate it as hers.

Anyone interested? There are two smaller pieces that are similar to those used on the Sketchbook album
insert. Mixed in with the ink is Johnette's own blood. Read her diary on the official site for the story of how this happened.

They are going for $300 a piece plus shipping, which will range from $20 to $30 in the U.S.

really big picturesCollapse )

If you are interested email Nathan James at tinderbox13 @ hotmail.com. Please tell him I sent ya.

The show ends this Friday!

Hope someone here is interested!

concrete blonde inspired inkingCollapse )
I'm proably going to come off as a crazed stalker fan for this, but when it came time for me to get my tattoo I wanted it to be something that was very personal.
Concrete Blonde has been a big part of my life ever since I heard them at the tender age of fourteen. They were the soundtrack for my teenage years

I'm quite impressed with the way the tattoo came out, and have already gotten many complements on it from people who don't have a clue where the image came from.

Heeeyyy my fellow Blonde-a-holics, I made a few of those colorbar thingies of CB/JN for anyone's LJ. Feel free to use them in your info, but make sure you link 'em back to me please. =)

7:01 pm - Anyone from my area going?

so_pseudogoth
I am so desperate right now.

I am on a quest to find someone who drives and someone who will let me give them money for gas (I'll ridiculously overcompensate, I'm not a stingy gas-money-person) who would be willing to drive me to Richmond to see this show. I saw CB in March of 2003 in Dallas and fucking cried my eyes out. I have been so much in love with this band since I was 13, and now they are playing close to where I live and I have no idea how I could swing it so that I could see them. They very rarely tour on the East coast at all, as they are Hollywood-based and most of their shows are in California, New Mexico, or down in South America. So if anyone knows how I could swing this, or knows of someone who might be interested in this gig, PLEASE let me know... I would be so ridiculously grateful and will pay them generously for the ride. Here's the info...

Saturday, October 16
Concrete Blonde
Canal Club
Richmond, VA
Doors open at 8:30
$18.00 advance, $20.00 door

As a side note, if anyone is actually interested in seeing the band and would want to go anyway whether or not I was going, I will buy your ticket if you will give me a ride to the venue.

10:30 am - The new album

vwbugs
I bought Mojave last week. Can't say I was thrilled with it, which is difficult because Concrete Blonde is in my top 5 of all time. However, the lyrics are vague and sophmoric and the music sounds very basic. Where in the world is the bass liens from Free or the lyrics from Bloodletting?

Anyone else heard it or feel the same?

11:44 pm - NOLA pics

angry_tears
I was inspired by piano_fire_ to post my CB pics here. These were taken at the acoustic show in the Virgin Megastore in New Orleans, Louisiana, July 10th 2004:

Those are just a taste. I obviously cropped Jim out for the sake of posting pics that capture Johnette's goddesslyness without freezing your computer up LOL. If you're interested in the REAL goods, I have the full-sized versions on my old server. [ew I sound like a spammer] CLICK HERE!
